On April 8, Oleg Smolkov, director of Avtomatika-Vektor, visited Springer's office in Friesach, Austria, at the invitation of Springer management.
Springer Maschinenfabrik GmbH is a European manufacturer of sawmilling and woodworking equipment. According to the Lestech Association, at least 26 Russian and Belarusian enterprises use Springer technologies. Recent major projects for which equipment was manufactured before the imposition of sanctions include supplies to Terneyles in Plastun, Primorsky Krai, Russia and Belacon Timber in the Repuiblic of Belarus.
During a tour of the facility, Oleg Smolkov learned about new solutions and ideas from Austrian manufacturers, including:
integrated sawmill production facilities Sawbox - modular turnkey solutions that allow for the full wood processing cycle in a compact space;
extensive use of robots: robotic systems are being implemented for welding, assembling and disassembling lumber stacks, and marking wood products;
log sorting line with a working speed of up to 300 meters per minute, using a belt drive instead of a chain drive;
reducing the role of hydraulics in favor of an electric drive.
At the meeting, the two companies' executives also discussed prospects for potential cooperation. Unfortunately, under current conditions, direct cooperation is limited by existing sanctions. Despite this, Springer representatives remain interested in the Russian market and express their readiness and hope to collaborate with Avtomatika-Vektor when sanctions are lifted.
